deuxième saxophone de John Coltrane sur ses dernières années free, a développé avec Alice Coltrane un spiritual Jazz encore inédit à la fin des années 60's. Un univers exceptionnel où des traditions imaginaires sont parcourues d'un souffle ensoleillé & apaisé.
Sa discographie étant importante, la sélection ne comporte donc que les années Impulse!. Aussi, les morceaux ayant une durée correspondant à l'esprit de l'époque (entre 18 et 35 minutes), le choix reste encore plus limité. Pour un premier mix sur l'univers de Pharoah Sanders, J'ai choisi les classiques uniquement tirés des 11 albums Impulse!
Pharoah Sanders,
John Coltrane's second saxophone during his last Free years, developed with Alice Coltrane a still unpublished spiritual Jazz at the end of the 60's. An exceptional universe where imaginary traditions are traversed by a sunny & peaceful breath.
His discography being important, the selection therefore only includes the Impulse! years. Also, the pieces having a duration corresponding to the spirit of the time (between 18 and 35 minutes), the choice remains even more limited. For a first mix on the Pharoah Sanders universe, I chose the classics only taken from the 11 Impulse albums!
